FAQs
Are there any pictures available showing the advancement of the work? Please visit the "Project Photograhs" section for up-to-date pictures of the advancement of the work for the A-25 completion project. Will it be possible to cross the bridge by foot and/or bicycle? Yes. The bridge is made up of 6 trafic lanes (3 in each direction) as well as a multifunctional lane for bikers and pedestrians. This lane links the Laval and East Montreal bike lanes. It has a width of 3 meters on the main bridge and starts on Gouin boulevard in Montreal, runs on the east side of the bridge, and ends on Levesque boulevard in Laval. Will it be possible to travel between Laval and Montreal with paying the toll fee? Anyone wanting to cross the bridge will be obligated to pay the toll fee. However, signage will be displayed as you approach the bridge so as to allow an alternate route should you wish not to pay the toll. What does the A25 completion project involve? The completion of Autoroute 25 consist of completing the existing Transports Québec highway network, building a new 7.2 km highway between Autoroute 440 in Laval and Henri-Bourassa Boulevard in Montréal, including a six lane bridge of 1.2 km crossing the Rivière des Prairies. For more information, visit our Web site under Project Overview.
Will there be public hearings on the A25 Project? Yes. The A25 Consortium, in partnership with Transports Québec, will hold public hearings to inform and gain valuable input from the public. All information pertaining to the public hearings are available on the A25 Web site under Public Consultation.
Where can I send my comments on the project? Who will answer my questions? We look forward to hearing from you. Please visit our Web site under Contact Us to send questions and/or comments. The A25 Consortium will respond to your inquiries within two working days.
What will be the impacts of building a bridge across the Rivière des Prairies? The project has been designed to minimize the impacts on the Rivière des Prairies. Construction performed in the river will follow the recommendations on the permit provided by the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans. The A25 Consortium will take environmental impacts into consideration during the different phases of project execution. The implementation of an environmental management plan for the whole project will last throughout the concession agreement based on ISO 14000 standard guidelines and continuous improvement of the team’s environmental performance.
How will I pay when I cross the new A25 bridge? Most motorists driving over the new bridge on a regular basis will create an individual account and receive a transponder for their vehicle. Payment will be deducted from their account as they cross the bridge. Motorists will not have to stop in order to pay the toll fee using this electronic system. Visit our Web site under Project Overview for more information concerning the electronic toll system.
What is a transponder? The transponder is a small electronic device (5 cm by 10 cm) which will be fixed on the vehicle’s windshield interior. The tolling equipment located above the roadway will read the transponder and deduct payment from the motorist’s account. Another name for transponder is “Tag”.
The A25 project right-of-way is close to my house. Where can I find information regarding the different project construction phases? Visit our Web site under Driver Information for more details regarding the different project phases and highway network conditions. You will be able to receive information on road closures and deviations.
This section will be updated regularly effective February 2008, which is
